The embroidered waistcoat

Shirt: Urban | Waistcoat: Zara | Chinos: Mango | Boots: Topshop | Bag: Zara

The past month has been one of the toughest moments of my life. I felt as if life was pushing me in one direction while my heart was quietly fighting for me to slow down and listen to what it had to say.

Upon quitting a job which many would regard as one of the top career moves, I was left with an existential crisis on what actually is the meaning of life. Is it to find one thing you are good at and stick to it? Or is it to find multiple forms of self expression?

I often feel that my fashion sense speaks truly to who I am as a person. It is funny because my job is to monitor and evaluate programs in order to improve their quality. It is often about a process of self expression and self actualisation. My fashion sense funny enoughspeaks to the same issue, identifying what makes up what is known as YOU and communicating that to the world. This outfit in particular tells the minor yet important details of who I actually am as an individual.
I love simplicity which I often express in the shirts that I wear. However I am a details person and this embroided waistcoat fits in perfectly with my pedantic nature. I always consider myself as a deeply rooted yet unorthodox person, so when I saw these earth tone ankle cut chinos, I knew I had to have them. There is always that one thing that completes you which you can tap into in all situations (my faith), my ankle boots play that role. I can wear them all year and they pair up with every outfit. We all need something that is not too obvious but makes you the person that you are and adds value to those around you. Whilst I would like that to be my ability to see the best version of people, in fashion, it has to be a pop of colour usually from a small structured bag.

So with that being said, I decided to name my blog Daily Runway as I believe that who we are is meant to be shared with the world. And for me, fashion is not just trends but a personal story from my soul. While some wear their hearts on their sleeve, I wear mine on my runway.
